Roger Goodell is about to double his salary
NFL commissioner, Roger Goodell, is being given a pretty hefty raise to continue leading the NFL product in the right direction. And by hefty, I mean his salary is about to double in size to almost $20 million.
According to Daniel Kaplan of the Sports Business Journal, who first broke this story while interviewing Altanta Falcon’s owner Arthur Blank, said Roger Goodell’s new contract and pay raise will ”bring Goodell in line [financially] with other top sports commissioners.”
Most would agree that Goodell has earned a pay raise, growing the NFL product each year he’s been in charge. One player who disagreed was Altanta Falcon wide receiver Roddy White, who went on Twiiter saying, “How in the hell can [you] pay a man this much money that can’t run tackle or catch”
Don’t hate the player, hate the game, Roddy.
I say we give credit where credit is due. Roger Goodell deserves every penny – yes, even double what he’s making right now.
